GoMOOS

GoMOOS is a model for sustained ocean observing systems, focusing on regional scale measurements that provide usable data products as an ongoing service for its customers, which include the federal government, commercial interests such as fishing and shipping, and researchers. GoMOOS has incorporated a suite of bio-optical sensors on some of its moorings. Data products include plant biomass, amount of light in the water, water clarity, phytoplankton or algal production, information on the type and concentration of suspended and dissolved materials within the ocean, and determination of light leaving the ocean for correlation with satellite data.
